Nelson's Sparrow - Two birds found by Matt White at the SRA HQ at Lake Tawakoni (Rains Co.) - November, 2000. Very rare in migration.

Nelson's Sparrow - During fall 2000, Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrows appeared at two locations in north central Texas. Up to four were at Lake Tawakoni (where they provided a first record for Rains County) from October 9-20. This individual was photographed in a smartweed marsh near the SRA HQ on October 10, 2000. Another at Lake Grapevine October 14-15 provided a first record for Denton County.
