| White-breasted
Nuthatch
The density of White-breasted Nuthatches begins to diminish significantly in the eastern portion of North-central Texas. Between Van Zandt and Dallas counties, the bird's status from east to west ranges from common to rare. West of Dallas County the species has only scattered sightings. Since Pulich's publication (1988), however, a few nesting birds have reoccupied bottom land around White Rock Lake in Dallas. Most sightings indicate this species will follow river tributaries into the western part of the study area but are irregular at best west of a north-south line from Cooke County to Hill County |
