Photo by Peter Billingham Sabine's Gull (1st-basic) December 14, 1994, Lake Tawakoni, Van Zandt County, TX. This first basic Sabine's Gull, which was present at Lake Tawakoni from December 14 - 26, 1994, provided the first record for the lake and one of the latest inland records ever for North America. Initially located with a flock of Bonaparte's Gulls in a flooded field below the dam in the Sabine River basin in Van Zandt County (where this photograph was taken on December 14) it was later found on the lake itself in both Rains and Van Zandt counties.

Sabine's Gull - This first basic Sabine's Gull, found at Lake Tawakoni on August 29, 1996, furnished a second record for both Lake Tawakoni and Rains County. Found during a heavy rainstorm, it was seen for only one day. It provided only the seventh record for north central Texas and remains the earliest fall migrant in the region. Photo by Matt White
