Rufous-crowned Sparrow

Rare to uncommon. Permanent nester locally. Pulich (1988) notes correctly that birds are most frequently observed along the Brazos River drainage along rocky cliff faces. It has also been observed around old dams and other rocky outcrops. More often seen in the western part of the study area. Pulich notes nest records for Palo Pinto, Cooke, Grayson, Hood, Johnson, Somervell, and Tarrant counties.
