Golden-cheeked Warbler
Although Golden-cheeked Warblers have retracted from their historical range in North-Central Texas, there are small, active populations still in Bosque County (Meridian State Park) and Somervell County (Dinosaur Valley State Park, Fossil Rim Wildlife Park). A recent discovery (April 2001) in Erath County suggests possibly 30-40 pair nesting on private property in that county. A lone individual was found in Dallas County on April 7, 2001 (private property) for the first county record since 1964. Less is known about the Palo Pinto County population although individuals are reported during breeding season. The window of time for GCWA in the area is from mid-March to July. |
